Branding in the Social Media Age [Infographic]

This infographic shows how important it is for businesses to brand themselves using social media. There’s no question about it; the numbers speak for themselves.

A couple of the points that really stuck out to me:

  • Fans and followers want coupons and discounts. It’s common to see businesses on social media thinking consumers prefer brand news, discussions, and cool content.  The research above found that’s not exactly the case — 80% of consumers said they prefer discounts and coupons from brands.
  • Brevity is a marketer’s best friend. Thirty-two percent of respondents said they prefer short messages from brands as opposed to e-mail and traditional forms of advertising.  Attention spans are short.  Use the least amount of words to get your message across. I was a little surprised by the unfavorable view toward blogs and YouTube videos.

What conclusions of this research jumped out at you?  Leave a comment with some of your disgustingly good social media statistics that didn’t make their way into this infographic.
